My advice / waxing

How to prepare for waxing: what to do and what to avoid.

The right hair length, clean skin and a few details shared in advance can affect both the comfort and the result of your treatment. Here is everything important, without unnecessary alarm.

Preparing your skin correctly helps make waxing more comfortable and improves the result.

Preparing for waxing is not complicated, but a few details make a real difference to your skin's comfort and the result. The most common mistakes happen just before the appointment: shaving, applying a rich cream or not mentioning skin sensitivity.

These recommendations apply to women and men. I choose the specific method — sugaring or hard wax — according to the area, hair length and skin sensitivity.

01 / Hair

Hair needs to be the right length.

The ideal length is about half a centimetre. The hair needs to be long enough for sugar paste or hard wax to grip it reliably.

Do not shave immediately before your appointment. If the hair is considerably longer and you are unsure whether to trim it, message me first. I will advise you according to the treatment area.

About half a centimetre is a useful guide. If you are unsure, it is always better to ask first.

02 / Skin

Clean, dry skin is all you need.

On the day of your appointment, arrive with clean skin and no body oil, rich cream, deodorant or other greasy layer on the treatment area. Sugar paste and wax need to grip the hair properly.

Avoid strong exfoliation and active skincare on the treatment area that day, as they may increase sensitivity. Normal gentle hygiene is enough.

Leave these off the treatment area on the day of your appointment.

03 / Safety

I need to know about skin sensitivity in advance.

Is your skin sunburnt, injured, inflamed or significantly irritated? Contact me before your appointment. Sometimes changing the area or method is enough; at other times, postponing is the professional choice.

Medication and active skincare are just as important — particularly retinol, retinoids or isotretinoin treatment. These can make facial skin more sensitive. Tell me when booking so we can agree on a safe approach.

Professional rule

If your skin is not suitable for waxing, I will recommend a different approach or postpone the appointment. Safety comes first.

04 / Comfort

Choose comfort after waxing.

Your skin may be temporarily more sensitive after treatment. Wear clean, comfortable and preferably loose clothing that will not rub the treated area. This can make a significant difference in the first hours, especially after intimate waxing.

05 / After your visit

Avoid unnecessary irritation on the first day.

After treatment, you will receive advice based on the area and your skin's reaction. In general, avoid hot baths, saunas, tight clothing and anything that adds heat, sweat or friction. Postpone intense exercise according to the aftercare advice you receive.

If pronounced redness or swelling lasts longer than two days, consult a dermatologist. Seek professional advice sooner if the reaction is severe or getting worse.

06 / Save this

Your pre-waxing checklist.

  1. 1

Hair approximately 0.5 cm long. Do not shave just before your appointment.

  2. 2

Clean, dry skin. No oil, cream or deodorant on the treatment area.

  3. 3

No fresh irritation. Mention sunburn, cuts or inflammation in advance.

  4. 4

Tell me about retinoids and medication. This is especially important for facial waxing.

  5. 5

Loose clothing. Your skin will appreciate less friction after treatment.

  6. 6

Message me if you are unsure. A short consultation can prevent unnecessary irritation.

07 / Frequently asked questions

What clients ask me most often.

Does waxing hurt?

It can sting, and sensitivity varies from person to person. I work calmly, monitor the skin and adapt the method to the specific area.

Sugaring or hard wax?

There is no single right answer for everyone. The area, hair length and skin sensitivity all matter. We will choose the best option together.

Do you treat men too?

Yes. I provide hair removal for women and men and always adapt the method to the area and skin.

What if I do not know whether the hair is long enough?

Message me on WhatsApp with the area and when you last shaved or removed the hair. I will tell you whether it is the right time to book.
